Sea turtles are marine reptiles that that inhabit all of the world's oceans except the Arctic. Like all reptiles, they are cold-blooded, breathe air and lay eggs. It takes decades for a sea turtle to reach reproductive maturity. After mating, female sea turtles return to beaches to nest. After leaving the nest, male sea turtles never return to land! Turtles can rest or sleep underwater for several hours at a time.

The Hawksbill (Eretmochelys imbricate) has a sharp beak-like mouth which allows them to munch on sponges, algae, jellyfish and anemones. These turtles grow up to 1 metre in shell length and can weigh up to 80kg.
